Renewed R-Type version by Easter Egg

Hooray, there it is: the long awaited Amstrad CPC version of R-Type by Easter Egg. Ok, we already had a R-Type version for the CPC, but it was ported in just one week from the Sinclair Spectrum and looks like all the other Spectrum ports. Team Easter Egg got the original Spectrum source code and did an own port which perfectly fits the CPC. So this game is a must – so now you can download it from http://www.rtype.fr.

CPC-Forum.de moves to a new home

The CPC-Forum.de, a german CPC forum, will close it’s doors today, but nevertheless, it will come back as a subforum of the “Verein zum Erhalt klassischer Computer e.V.”, which is a retro computing addicted organisation. Currently the administrators of CPC-Forum.de are trying to move the old forum messages to the new server, too. The intention of this movement is to get rid of the dependency on one person, who has the power to e.g. close the whole the forum from one day to another.

ACID inside

Bryce, well known for his great hardware projects (MegaFlash ROM box, RGB to SVideo converter, MegaROM board, etc…), released a description on how to move the ACID protection chip into the CPC Plus. If you do this modification, you won’t need the ACID protection chip in the cartridge anymore and you can just connect cartridges without an ACID protection chip to the CPC Plus.
You can find the howto in the CPC Wiki.

A replacement possibility for the ACID protection chip was also released last year, too.

256 byte Overscan Megatext Intro

Matahari from turkey released his first demo for the CPC. It is a scroller in overscan which features 50 Hz hardware scroll, overscan, all 27 colours of the CPC and this all within 256 bytes. You can download it from Pouet.net and don’t forget to vote for it!
