BB4CPC – finally a great Bubble Bobble version for the CPC

CNGSoft released his long awaited remake of the game Bubble Bobble. Finally, the CPC gets a version of this great, which it deserves. Compared to the original CPC port of Bubble Bobble, it features very colourful graphics, the intro sequence and bigger sprites. To sum it up: it is much closer to the original arcade version. Be sure to download and test it. You can get the game from CNGSofts homepage (click on the image).

CNGSoft released a new version of his CPC emulator for DOS, DPMI and Windows called CPCE. This emulator is written in 100% assembly. You can download the newest version from the CPCE homepage.

Here are the changes:

  • New autorun engine: feed it a file and go.
  • New tape engine with 16-bit precision rather than the old 8-bit: recording a CSW and then playing it back output the same sound.
  • Fixed a potential buffer overflow in the ZIP file handler.
  • Added support for UNRAR.DLL. Oh, and CPCE.TXT is 1010 lines long, too.

Here are the changes:

  • improves the IRQ and VSync signals synchronization
  • fixes bugs in the FDC that now supports Titus’ disc protection
  • Z80 search function
  • ZIP support have been improved

CPCE

CNGSoft released a new version of his CPC emulator CPCE during the MadriSX2007 retro computing event. Here are the new features:

  • Symbiface 2 emulation (PS/2 mouse, realtime clock, two virtual hard disc drives and static RAM that can be mapped as ROM)
  • support for ERE disc protection
  • expands the ROM space (528 K instead of 272 K)
  • fixes a tiny mistake in the AVI recording
  • small bugfixes
