Philippe Rimauro aka OffseT released a new version of his emulator for the MorphOS operating system. It emulates the CPC old generation and, since the latest version, the CPC Plus, too. The emulator was written from scratch, so it isn’t just a port of an existing open source CPC emulator. If you are a MorphOS user and want to use your CPC software under MorphOS, don’t hesitate and download it from the ACE homepage.

Changes:

  • Added Amstrad Plus emulation (the entire Amstrad CPC range is now emulated).
  • Added support for light guns (Magnum Light Phaser and Trojan Light Phazer).
  • Added system friendly wrapper to access the hard disc from the operating system of the emulated CPC (benefit of faster than light files accesses, long file names, directories…).
  • Added screen monitor settings to the main window (brightness and vertical hold).
  • Added several new tooltypes and AREXX commands to configure and control the emulator.
  • Improved disc images internal structure to prepare replacement of DSK format.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Mochilote released a new version of the great CPCDiskXP utility. With CPCDiskXP you can transfer disk images to real floppy disks and vice versa on the Windows OSs. You can download it from the CPCMania website and at the end of this news.

Changes:

  • DSKEditor – Small changes to fix problems with PCW. Single side dsk’s seem to work perfectly in the editor and the emulator.
  • GENERAL – Sometimes the main interface buttons are cut off and can not be pressed (as shown in the image above), usually in Vista and W7 if you increase the default font size, is finally solved. Thanks to everyone who wrote to me to tell me the problem.

Kyuran ported his Nintendo DS Amstrad CPC emulator CrocoDS to the Apple iOS devices. It is heavily based on WinCPC by Ludovic Deplanque. Most modifications to make it run on the Nintendo DS were already made about 6 years ago. The source code is available on GitHub.

To use it on your Apple device, you have to open the .xcode file on your iPhone / iPad. The disk images (.dsk files) have to be send via iTunes.

Kokak, who already released a CPC emulator for Series 60 phones some years ago, released a new Amstrad CPC emulator for Android. It should run with full-speed on nearly all devices, has a very nice feature set and even supports hardware gamepads and hardware keyboards. You can get it for 1,79€ in the Google Play Store.

So, after CPCDroid and AndCPC, this is the third Amstrad CPC emulator for Android.

Features:

  • Virtual Joystick on touchscreen (analog or directions keys)
  • Virtual keyboard
  • Hardware gamepads (XB360, Moga, etc.) with customable controls
  • Hardware keyboards
  • Snapshots (you can save / restore the state of the CPC, so any game can be saved / loaded)
  • OpenGL renderer
