BSC, probably best known for his Soundtrakker, just released the source code of a new music tracker, which is also capable to play SID voices on the Amstrad CPC. Currently the graphical user interface is quite rudimentary, but the tracker is useable, produces an awesome sound and hey… after the source code release, you can write a GUI by yourself :-).

Well, the following audio examples stand for themselves:

You can get the source code and a snapshot for an emulator from GitHub. The technical discussion is available in the CPC Wiki forums including a description of the keyboard shortcuts.

A new version of the SDCC C compiler is available. You can use SDCC to develop for the Amstrad CPC, e.g. with using the SDCC Code::Blocks template or the programming tutorials by Mochilote. The new version contains also some optimisations for the Z80 port, so be sure to update it. You can download it from http://sdcc.sourceforge.net.

Changes:

  • New TLCS90 (Toshiba Z80 clone) target support
  • New STMicroelectronics STM8 target support
  • Support for named address spaces in ROM
  • Detects supported devices by gputils when building SDCC
  • Numerous feature requests and bug fixes are included as well.

pushnpopnews_thumb.pngPush’n’Pop published an article about the community Amstrad CPC projects for 2014 and 2015. You will find a lot of software here and see that the Amstrad CPC users are still active :). There are some new demos on the way, there are some games in production and you can expect some new hardware, too. Toms and Hicks try to keep the list up to date, so if your project is missing, you should write them and change that.

You can find the list in the articles section of Push’n’Pop.
