The oldskool competition on the Revision 2017 is just over and I have uploaded the live footage from the latest demo of Logon System: Logon’s run. Enjoy it:

A big task on my ToDo list for this website is to move it to HTTPS. If you have already tried to use HTTPS, you might have seen that the site already uses a valid certificate but the WordPress installation still uses insecure locations to load data. I will start this evening to move WordPress itself to HTTPS and there might be some problems with older content on this site. Hopefully the page will be normally working until next week (well – or this evening again, of course ;-)), so if you experience any problems, please use the comments or the contact form and help me to get them fixed.

[UPDATE: The website is using HTTPS now. If you are trying to use HTTP you will be automatically forwarded to the HTTPS version of the website. During the update process I had to remove the CPC Toplist, because the CPC-Live website uses a non valid self issued certificate (it expired), which would cause security warnings in your browser. During the next days, I will try to check most of the pages to prevent loading content from non secured pages :-). Hopefully the RSS feed readers will still work…]

Novabug, who creates a lot of Youtube videos related to our beloved Amstrad CPC, has released a video where he did a retrospective of 2016. In this video, he shows his very own Top 11 of the last year (which was an awesome year for the Amstrad CPC users :-)). Enjoy the video:

OffseT released a new version of his emulator for the MorphOS operating system. It emulates the Amstrad CPC old generation and the Amstrad Plus, too. The emulator was written from scratch, so it isn’t just a port of an existing open source Amstrad CPC emulator. Due to its very precise audio and video renderings, ACE should be your first choice to watch demos – if you have a MorphOS system around.
If you are a MorphOS user and want to use your Amstrad CPC software under MorphOS, don’t hesitate and download it from the ACE homepage.

Changes:

  • Reworked layout of several windows.
  • Updated german catalog (Stefan ‘polluks’ Haubenthal).
  • Added new icons for GUI, drawers, plugins and filetypes (Mathieu ‘Hwikaa’ Delaruelle).
  • Re-optimized emulation speed that had deteriorated in version 1.13 (ACE is now 5% faster).
  • Greatly improved CRTC 0 emulation.
  • Fixed some minor issues in emulation of CRTC 1, 3 and 4.
  • Improved internals to ease portability on AmigaOS and AROS.
  • Added support for breakpoints on Maxam and WinAPE BRK opcodes.
  • Improved some AREXX commands.
  • Updated the cross-development examples to use vasmz80_oldstyle assembler instead of pasmo.

Roudoudou released a brand new Zilog Z80 cross-assembler that targets the Amstrad CPC. Of course it supports all the undocumented opcodes, but beside of that, you can use conditional macros, a floating point engine and several mathmatical functions. A special feature is the possibility to create a cartridge for the Amstrad Plus or the Amstrad GX4000 directly by assembling your source code and you can automatically add an AMSDOS header to your binaries. However, it currently does not support the Maxam assembly syntax.
The latest version contains a lot of bugfixes (local labels, macro, label tree, alias, …) and a documentation in french and english. You can download and discuss it at the CPCWiki forums and at the end of this news.

Update 21.03.2017
Roudoudou released a new version v0.42 with the following changes:

  • allow old style label declaration with a starting dot
  • allow useless A, register form with ADC, ADD, SBC, SUB
  • extended syntax for 8bits index registers
  • documentation FR/EN updated

Update 31.03.2017 – Rasm v0.48

  • bugfix of label calculations when placed after a LZ48/LZ49 block (there is a buf left with more than one LZ section in the same ORG)
  • directives SWITCH/CASE/DEFAULT/ENDSWITCH added
