Prodatron made a small video showing SymAmp playing MP3s on the MSX. Hopefully we will get this on the CPC, too ;-):
Prodatron released a preview version of SymZilla, which will be a webbrowser for his operating system SymbOS, which already implements navigation possibilities and the rendering engine which works with the Richtext based binary format, called DOX. Here is a screenshot of the current version:
If you want to test SymZilla by yourself, you can download it on the SymbOS preview page.
Prodatron is currently working on a richtext format document viewer for his operating system SymbOS. This viewer component shall be used for different tasks later:
- simple TXT file viewer
- HTML viewer (need a convert HTML->richtext)
- Help system, E-Book reader, etc.
- maybe as a basis for SymWord
Right in time before the start of the next year, Prodatron released his alternative operatingsystem SymbOS in version 1.1. The main feature of the new version is the support of the MSX2 system. All aplications can run on both systems without changing their sourcecode.
Here are some of the other changes (you can see the full list here):
- “AUTOEXEC” – you can now specify programs which can be automatically loaded on system startup
- Bugfix for double redraws
- CPC: autoboot – when starting the CPC you can hold CTRL key down and directly start with SymbOS
- CPC: screenroutines for Mode 1 have been optimized
- Pac-Man – clone of the Pacman game for SymbOS
- Pocket Calculator – completly rewritten calculator with scientific mode
- Symbiface II ROM manager – displays RSX commands of “expanded” ROMs
- … and much more …

For those who didn’t noticed it… We now have a brand new Wiki where you can put all your CPC stuff and knowledge in. During the last days, Prodatron, Kangaroo and me were working very hard to get a lot of information about the german scene into it, but that means that it is currently focused on the german scene. This means: WE NEED YOUR HELP to improve the international content in the Wiki (which don’t means that german users shoudln’t add their infos :-). So if you know anything about the CPC (historic information, people of the scene, programming techniques, game reviews, game company infos or you want to add pictures) then don’t hesitate and visit the CPC Wiki .
Btw, on the bottom of this page you can find a small bar, which you can find on the contribute page of the Wiki. If you want to support the Wiki, please add the HTML code from the page to you website and add your website to the contribute page .
