TFM released a new version of his video compression tool Filmemacher (german for ‘Moviemaker’). With Filmemacher you can compress 17kb screen and display them with up to 50fps. You can download the actual version of the program from http://www.futureos.de.

Changes:

  • Application now updated and adapted for FutureOS system .8 or higher
  • Memory-Management is enhanced, up to 512 KB E-RAM will be fully used
  • Debugging (has still to be enhanced in the next version)
  • Interface for German, English and French language
  • Application needs a CPC with at least 208 KB RAM.
  • The generated CoData movie can now compress 1364 single pictures (511 in last version)
  • Application runs best on Class 4 CPC or higher.

SAMdisk is a tool to convert floppy disks into various disk images which can be used in emulators. It works with almost all PC floppy controllers and supports also some copy-protected formats. It requires that you have fdrawcmd.sys, a low-level floppy disk driver, installed on your system.

Changes:

  • Largely re-written again, for non-uniform track support
  • Added +3 protections: Speedlock weak sectors, OperaSoft 32, various motor bug fixes
  • Added CPC protections: Speedlock/EA weak sectors, Infogrames/Loriciel gaps, KBI-10, KBI-19
  • Added support for many disk image containers, including EDSK, TD0, DMK, IPF
  • Added support for zip, gzip and bzip2 archives using zlib1.dll and bzip2.dll
  • Added directory support for MGT, TR-DOS, Opus, Didaktik and Amstrad CP/M
  • HDD support for drives up to 2TB, with improved lock/dismount and safety checks
  • Changed to Unix-style getopt for command-line options
  • Removed embedded fdrawcmd.sys driver

Devilmarkus released another GUI for a commandline tool. This time it is CPCXfs, which can be used to transfer files between DSK images and the normal filesystem of your operating system. As the GUI only can use the Windows version of CPCXfs, the package can currently only be used under Windows. You can download CPCXfs GUI here.

Here are the features of the program:

  • Open a DSK into DF0 or DF1
  • Drag & Drop files onto your DSK and in choosen USER
  • Delete files on DSK
  • Extract files from DSK to your PC
  • Hex-edit your DSK
  • Hide/Show files on DSK (SYS)
  • Protect/Unprotect files

CPCxfs-GUI

Andreas Micklei released a new version of his DSK tools. With them you can read and write DSK images to real disks under Linux.
This version fixes two bugs:

  • Added multiple try on reading and writing (PulkoMandy)
  • Writing to side B (François Lacombe)
