SPRING released a new version of their ROM manager ROMAN. The ROM manager can be used to store 16kb ROMs, e.g. from the 16kb ROM competition, in a MegaFlash NG ROM box and the new version should work with PulkoMandy’s ROM box as well (both are compatible with Bryce Flash ROM box and use the same SST flash ROM chip). You can directly download the latest version as a DSK and HFE from here:

Kangaroo and Nilquader released a new hardware for the Amstrad CPC, which is available for ordering now: the MegaFlash NG ROM box. It is based on the MegaFlash ROM box by Bryce and additionally features a reset button and a “pause” switch. But the best above all – it is available as a construction kit, which means, it will bring the “maker spirit” to you :). Order your kit, heat your soldering iron, have fun with building this new hardware for the Amstrad CPC and after all of that – enjoy your new hardware, e.g. with the games of the 16k ROM competition on the real machine :D. You can order the MegaFlash NG from the Spielquader shop for 24,95 EUR (look out for the “Ready” T-Shirts as well :-)).

After just five days of development Brueggi of PNG released a brand new ROM manager for Bryce’ MegaFlash ROM box. It features an easy to use user interface and runs under AMSDOS. One of the biggest features is the ROM generator, which allows you to convert binary programs directly into a ROM, which you can start with an RSX command that you can define during the creation. This cool feature allows you to store the ROM manager within the MegaFlash, too. You can use ROMs with and without headers as BIN or ASCII files.

[UPDATE 2013/03/07:] ROMAN v1.0 is now available in a version, which can be used with the [[SYMBiFACE II]] expansion by Dr.Zed.

You can download both versions of ROMAN directly from the PNG homepage or at the end of this news.

TFM just released, as promised, a single version of his ROMManager for the Megaflash ROM interface and the Symbiface II . He also added the Inicron ROMBooster to the ROM, so you can now directly use up to 32 ROMs without installing the ROMBooster in ROM no. 15. You can download it from TFMs homepage http://www.futureos.de (in the download section). You can discuss the latest version or report errors in the CPCWiki forums.

TFM released the first official version of the ROManager application for the MegaFlash from Bryce. After a long phase of testing by SyX the ROMananger in version 1.35 is now capable to perform the following tasks:

  • Park or Unpark a ROM
  • Clear a ROM
  • Copy, swap or shift ROMs
  • Test a ROM for name, version number and checksum.
  • Adapt a ROM checksum
  • ROMs can be loaded from disc or saved to disc.

There are versions for Basic (either from disc or ROM redident) or for FutureOS. The Basic version can work with different drives and OSs. The ROM resident version needs  32 KB, which equals two ROMs. A version which only needs one ROM is under development.

The ROManager including all source codes can be downloaded at: http://www.FutureOS.de
