With “Doomsday Lost Echoes” a new graphical text adventure was just released for the Amstrad CPC. In the game you play Mike, a guy who wants to leave the planet by becoming a crew member of a space ship called Doomsday. After traveling to “The Pit” after an civil unrest on the planet, he received an email from a lost worker from an abandoned space station. And that’s where you go next…

Doomsday - Lost Echoes

The game was developed using the Professional Adventure Writing System (PAWS) and features very nice graphics (obvious, isn’t it – it is a text adventure ;-)) and – like all newer games – a very nice manual. You can play the game on a real Amstrad CPC, Amstrad Plus or in an emulator. However, it requires 128kb of RAM and a floppy drive, which is able to read 720kb disks (it will work with a HxC floppy emulator).

Doomsday - Lost Echoes

You can download the game from the official homepage or at the end of this news.

The CPC Wiki needs to move from the server, which was kindly donated by Nurgle, to a new server again. It is aimed to move the Wiki to its new location on wednesday or friday, so don’t be afraid if it isn’t available during that time. You can read more about it in the CPC Wiki forums (if they are available Zwinkerndes Smiley) and I will try to keep you informed about the migration progress. You can find more detailed information during the migration progress when you follow Gryzors Twitter account (@krakout).

[UPDATE-19.11.2011] The Wiki moved to its new server this night and all seems to be working. If there are any problems, please report them in the forums or contact Gryzor.[/UPDATE]

You might have noticed that the CPC Wiki is currently not accessable. The server will move to a new hosting partner, but here is the original message by Gryzor:

“Hello dear CPCWiki members,As some of you have noticed, there has been some downtime as of lately. The host has said we cannot continue on this server due to the number of connections made, so we’ll probably be moving to a new one. It seems summer is always a period of moving! Anyhow, if you find that the site is gone we will try to keep you updated. You can check out cpc-live.com, follow Gryzor on Twitter (username: krakout), or drop by https://www.octoate.de and other CPC-related sites (like Phenix, I’m sure they’ll pick it up sooner or later).

Cross fingers!

Regards,
The CPCWiki forum Team.”

Due to an attack on the host of the CPC Wiki (not the Wiki server itself), the CPC Wiki is currently down. A backup will be uploaded to the server tomorrow. The backup is done every day, so no data will be lost.
Please be patient and wait until the server is up again :).

EDIT: And back again…

I already wrote it some time ago: the german CPC-Forum.de will be down soon. In a message on CPC-Forum.de Kangaroo wrote a message, that there was nobody who wants to take over the administrator function of the board and also nobody wants to pay for it.

As a replacement Devilmarkus and Gryzor created a german section in the CPC Wiki forum. Here is the message about the creation of this section:

======ENGLISH MESSAGE FOLLOWS BELOW

Hallo, Deutscher CPC-Szener!

Lieben Gruss,
Euer CPC-Wiki Team

=============

Dear CPC-Wiki users,

As you may have noticed, Kangaroo shut down the last German language CPC-related forum, cpc-forum.de. And not only that, but he also says that the data is lost…

If you’re still interested in a German-speaking forum, seeing as it was quite active, we created such a forum on http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum

We hope for your active participation and really we would be very glad if the German CPC-scene found a new home here, at least until and if another solution is found.

Regards,
The CPCWiki forum Team.
