Zarkon started a thread in the spanish CPC board at mforos.com about the [[Amstrad Cartridge Identification Device|ACID]] protection of the CPC+ cartridges. This small protection chip is the last part of the CPC which isn’t well known and without this chip it isn’t possible to develop any new cartridges for the CPC 464+, CPC 6128+ or the GX4000.
So if you are able to help with analysation – maybe because you know directly the details of this chip or you have knowledge about electronics – then please have a look at the thread in the spanish CPC board. Most of the entries in this thread are spanish, but you can translate it with Google which makes the thread at least understandable.
ZX81 released a new port of his Amstrad CPC emulator, which is originally based on Caprice32, for the Dingoo A320 handheld. The port is based on the latest version of Gp2x-Wiz.
And that’s what ZX81 improved over the original Caprice32 emulator:
- Cheat support
- Memory monitoring engine to find your own cheat code
- Text editor to modify the global cheat.txt file
- Text editor to write your own comments on games
- Display first comment line while browsing game files
- Auto disk startup support
- Save state in gzip format
- etc, etc …
You can download the latest source and binaries from ZX81s blog.
And another news game for the CPC brought to you by the Mojon Twins from spain. It has the strange name “Platformer Medley” which was originally just a development name, but the new name “A trip to the trippy supermarket, starring Mary Stormbringer” was too long and the development name already used ingame… Anyway… Platformer Medley is a jump and run game in the style of Jet Set Willy.
Btw, the Mojon Twins have already prepared a sequel which will only be released if you play through the whole game. If you finish it, you will get a keycode which you can send to the Mojon Twins and after that they will release the sequel. Nice motivation, isn’t it :-)?
You can download the game from the Mojon Twins homepage.
ESP Soft released a new game for the CPC called iLogicAll. It is a logical game where you have to help MariBee to become queen. Unfortunately I am unable to understand spanish so I am not sure how to play it, but I read that it has a similar gameplay to “Picross”.
Don’t to download and play it. You can download it from the Amstrad.es homepage.
D_Skywalk released a port of his emulator Pituka, which is already available for the Nintendo Wii and the Gamepark GP32, for the Dingoo A320 Linux handheld. You can download it from his website.
Here are the features of this prerelease:
- Full Amstrad CPC Emulation, no FRAMESKIP!
- ZIP file support
- Onscreen keyboard
TODO:
- Keyboard Binds
- Snapshots Support
